Steam tips for new and veteran gamers

Gabe Newell says that piracy is a problem of service and Steam is responsible for making video games more accessible without the need to pirate them. Gaming is a very popular form of entertainment.

Steam isn’t the only place that allows you to collect video games and have it available whenever you need. While there are other similar services, Steam is still the best.

Some of the features may not be obvious to you, regardless of whether you’re a new Steam user or an old hand on the platform. It will improve your experience on Steam.

Steam Guard

Let’s begin with Steam Guard. There are many cybersecurity threats online. It’s not a secret that there are many. Not everyone is willing to create a password policy, run antivirus while gaming, ignore suspicious links, and so on.

Steam Guard adds an extra layer to your security and makes you feel more secure. To set up Steam Guard, go to Settings and select Account.

Check out Steam Beta

Although participation in the beta is optional, if you enjoy the platform and want to help it develop, please join. You will be the first to receive any future updates.

We can expect more features from Steam as it continues to grow and attract players. The platform doesn’t want to damage their reputation so they are looking for testers who can perform simple or more complex tasks and give feedback.

Trade Market

Although the trading market can be confusing, it is possible to make additional income with it. You can expect to receive item drops if you play games such as Counter-Strike Global Offensive or Dota 2.

These items can be sold on the Steam marketplace to make a profit. You can spend the money on Steam on a variety of goods, such as video games or DLCs.

You can also keep the goods if you don’t want to sell them and prefer to keep them for your own use.

You can also collect trading cards from the market to make badges that show your loyalty to Steam.

Steam Points Exchangeable

Steam points are earned after every Steam purchase. These Steam points can be used to exchange for vanities. Steam points can be used to purchase a new background, custom animated emotives, avatars, frames, and other items. It’s nice to have a few options to make your profile stand out. And since these points can be used to purchase items, why not use them?

Manage Library

If you don’t have many games, the platform will sort your collection alphabetically. If your collection becomes too large, it might be difficult to manage.

Steam was aware of possible issues and added a category-creation feature. To avoid getting lost, you can create different categories for strategy, action, and other game genres.

Make a Wishlist

A wishlist is an excellent tool. You might have some games that you’d like to play later on, but what if they aren’t there? These games can be added to your wishlist.

You might not want to spend any money yet on some video games that are in early access. It is also not a good idea to pre-order. There have been many examples of games that fail their players. It is better to wait for user and critic reviews before purchasing.

Look forward to sales

Steam is well-known for its sales when there are holidays or special seasons. Steam’s sales offer more than discounts. There are also visual goodies like background images and emotes.

A sale can help you get rid of your hesitations about buying a videogame because of the price. You can get discounts up to 90% depending on the age of the video game.

Add friends

While single player games can be fun, it’s great to play with others. If you find yourself playing online games on Steam, and you like them, you can add them to your friendlist.

Keep in mind that Steam has official discussion forums that can be sorted by games. Check to see if there is a Steam presence for a gaming community that you are interested in.

Get a refund

You can still request a refund even though digital video games are available on Steam. You might not be satisfied with the outcome of the game, or it may not run on your computer even though you have met all the requirements.

Steam will only allow you to request a refund if the game has not been played for at least two hours. This must be done within two weeks after purchasing the game.

Cache removed

Although it’s not a major problem, the cache that builds up on Steam can still be annoying. A cleanup utility tool can be used to remove temporary system junk and cache from a MacBook. This link has some great ideas.

If you spend a lot of time on your MacBook via Steam, be sure to check the cache and get rid of it. You can find the cache tab in your Downloads section. Clear Download Cache will be at the bottom.
